Programme Goals

  • To develop expertise in the application of management principles as they relate to fire safety to ensure safe working practises and environments.

Programme Entry Requirements :

​

Applicants must have successfully completed 12 years of secondary schooling and have followed the Pure/ Applied Mathematics stream or equivalent. The minimum passing grade is D or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English for the Omani General Diploma Certificate.

 

Applicants will complete a diagnostic Entry Test/ Placement Test in English Language, Mathematics, and Science to assess their ability to complete the FSM programme.

 

The FSM programme includes structured provisions for students to further develop their English language skills. However applicants must have an IELTS of at least 5.0, with a minimum of 4.5 in any of the individual sections (writing, speaking, listening and reading.)

 

Applicants will be exempt from the above requirements if they have successfully completed a foundation year at ICEM with an IELTS of 5.0 and a minimum of  4.5 in any of the individual sections and demonstrated an adequate level of proficiency in all areas required for admission into the FSM programme.

 

Accreditation for Prior Learning / Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning will be assessed according to UCLan standard procedures.

Programme Modules 

The Fire Safety Management programme at ICEM grants students a number of exit routes at each stage of degree completion.

Industrial Placement :

​

At ICEM, we seek to bridge the gap between academia and industry and contribute to the advancement of education in the fields of management and engineering through research, practice and critical thinking.

​

ICEM provides its FSM students optional work placement opportunities should they wish to apply their knowledge to real-life scenarios and further consolidate their learning.

​

Students who have successfully completed Year 2 are eligible for an eight-week Industrial Experience Module equivalent to 20 notional credits during the summer break.

​

Students who have successfully completed Year 3 are eligible for a one-year Eidaad Industrial Placement Module equivalent to 120 notional credits.

Programme Overview:

The Fire Safety Management Programme delivers strong theoretical and practical skills in the field of fire safety. This programme develops expertise in the application of management principles as they relate to fire safety to ensure safe working practices and environments. The programme enables graduates to assess risk and devise protection strategies as they relate to fire safety and produce graduates with the ability to command and manage fire safety operations.

Career Opportunities

ICEM graduates from the FSM Programme are highly in demand in a variety of settings where they are responsible for developing and implementing fire safety policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as conducting fire safety inspections, responding to fire-related emergencies, and educating the public about fire safety. Industrial and commercial sites, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, government agencies, and the military are one of many outlets for FSM graduates.
